KULĀIA HOʻOILINA AWARD HONOREES

Molokaʻi Canoe Festivals' Kulāia has revived this aspect of commemorating community leadership from a culturally and historically grounded tradition.  Committee members of Molokaʻi Canoe Festivals' Kulāia committee annually select a community leader(s) from Molokaʻi who embodies particular values that reflect the unique Molokaʻi culture and lifestyle, leaving a Legacy for the next generation.  This community leader is honored and celebrated as a cultural treasure who have gained respect for their contributions to our island home.  Through this revival of honoring our Hawaiian jewels, Kulāia encourages our community to commemorate our treasures, our community leaders in celebration with them and their 'ohana our appreciation.
